Hey everyone!

We’re Danny, Heather, Kate, and Ofer, founders of Tuned.

Hearing care has a social stigma, but it shouldn’t. It’s one of our most important senses.

Few things are better than talking with family and friends (even if it’s not in person). Hearing your favorite song in an unexpected setting. Enjoying the sound of waves on a sandy beach. The audiology industry uses these scenarios a lot, because they are wonderful moments.

But hearing care is about more than wonderful moments.

Headphone use and video calls consume working hours. Tinnitus diagnoses have skyrocketed. A flood of new OTC products are hitting the market, with consumers left to guess what might help them meet their personal hearing goals.

And audiologists don’t get support to bring hearing care far beyond hearing evaluations and device sales.

Now, hearing care is largely associated with hearing aids and debilitating hearing loss. Something you do when you’re older. Something reactive, not something to care for over a lifetime. People with mild to moderate hearing loss just “deal with it”. People without hearing loss don’t focus on conservation and preservation. People with tinnitus may not even know an audiologist can help.

A handful of audiologists are expanding the concept of hearing care. They’re fully patient centered, they are unbundled, and they’re bringing cutting-edge technology and treatments into their clinics. They’ve changed their practice: moving past hearing evaluations and device sales to advise patients of all hearing profiles.

So good news, it’s possible to focus on delivering audiology expertise and have a healthy practice. It’s just been painfully difficult: practice models built around device sales, questionable claims, tools that aren’t purpose-built for audiology, and lack of support to make the change.

Hearing care deserves a rethinking. A revamp. A rebuild for the modern world, and recognition of the value of audiologists’ expertise for us all.

With Tuned, we’ve done just that. Co-designed with industry-leading audiologists and patients, we built a platform for audiologists to deliver this new model of hearing care.

Hearing is a joy, and we are at the start of a hearing care revolution.
